Experience: Corporate Real Estate Executive with Over 25 years experience in Real Estate Development, Construction, Engineering and Project Finance
Summary: Mr. Gurgick began his career as a structural engineer in Atlanta, GA. Working for the Atlanta office of John Portman and Associates he designed buildings in Atlanta, San Francisco, Monterey Mexico, and Singapore. He continued working as a designer while earning his MBA and completed designs for over six million square feet of office buildings, restaurants, hotels and industrial buildings in Atlanta and other markets.
He began working as a real estate developer and concurrently earned an MBA. Formerly, Mr. Gurgick served as the VP of Construction with Kettler, a regional realestate development firm. When he joined Kettler his assignments covered three multistory condominium projects in Montgomery County Maryland. These projects were valued at over $250,000,000. In serving as the VP of construction he was responsible for construction of numerous projects from 18 lot subdivisions to the Potomac
Harbor/Harbor Station project which contains a Jack Nicklaus signature course, approximately 900 SF home lots, townhouse lots, apartments, condominiums, a town center, hotels, a 1,000,000 SF office campus, and a Marina.
He has managed numerous construction projects throughout the Washington metropolitan area including: all major infrastructure improvements at Milestone in Germantown, The Montgomery County facilities for the Downtown Silver Spring Project consisting of the AFI Silver Theatre, and the two parking garages; Potomac Club in Woodbridge, VA; Port Potomac in Woodbridge, VA, Dulles Corner in Fairfax, VA; Fairfax Corner in Fairfax, VA. The Silver Spring projects included numerous public-private agreements and extensive contract negotiations with Montgomery County.
Mr. Gurgick did groundbreaking work negotiating and performing the first 17 of 20 WSSC MOU’s which allowed private developers to construct their own sanitary and water systems in Maryland. This enabled his projects to save years and millions of dollars. Similarly on his first project in Virginia he privately designed and constructed electric and telephone conduit and manhole systems enabling the timely and efficient delivery of a new 450,000 SF building for AT&T.
